Calculation Engine

Spread COM officially supports a calculation engine with over 100 built-in functions. Try using custom functions. You can reference formulas by specifying expressions or cell addresses.

Print/Print Preview

Spread offers a variety of basic printing features, allowing you to easily preview and print. There are various options to control how your client's data is previewed, including the ability to preview the page on screen and zoom in and out.

Visual Template Designer

Design your spreadsheets using the runtime design tool. Set properties, formats, data sources, calculations, and more—all without writing code.

Data Binding

Spread can automatically read data from a variety of data libraries and connect to it using ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) 2.0, OLE DB technology, Data Access Objects (DAO), or Remote Data Objects (RDO). After connecting to a data source, Spread can display the information you need to the user, as follows: 

• Create column headings by reading or displaying field names
• Generate the required heat
• Create corresponding field types based on the data to check for consistency when modifying data.
• Display required data in the corresponding format
• Change data through the program screen without coding
• Viewing data using standard navigation
• Add a new column or row

Unbound Data Mode

Spread has powerful data library connectivity, allowing for efficient loading of data from other data sources at Spread runtime.

In addition to the common primary data sources, the simple program can load other data files, including Microsoft Excel 97 worksheets, Microsoft Excel 2000 worksheets, SS2/3 documents, comma-delimited documents, tab-delimited files, and documents delimited by user-defined characters.

Import/Export Files

Spread imports and exports data in several file formats, including Excel .xls and .xlsx, XML, HTML, .SS* (a Spread proprietary format), tab-delimited, and comma-delimited. You can export with or without formulas.

Data Validation

One of Spread's most powerful features is its ability to automatically validate data. Spread offers 14 built-in cell types, configured to only allow specific types of data entry, and custom cell types that allow full control over cell editing.

Multiple operating modes

The operating mode controls how customers can interact with Spread. For example, you can make Spread read-only or operate it as a list box.

Cell border

All border design properties, including thickness, color, and style, are supported. Quickly and easily create rich reports with thin and thick lines, dashed lines, outlines, signature lines, and more using the Spread Designer tool or API.

Text TIP

Add cell notes and text tips to provide additional information to your users. Cell notes appear as red dots in the corners of cells and display information when clicked. 

Sheet and Cell Protection

Protect specific cells or entire sheets from editing. Protect worksheets with or without a password and restrict user actions like inserting, deleting, and resizing rows and columns.
